Frequently Asked Questions

  1. What if I have a question and want assistance with designing a lighting setup for a project?

Give us a call or send us an email with the details of your project and a description of the lighting effects you desire - using Contact Us located on every Product Detail page. We will respond promptly.

  2. What should be considered when selecting the type of lighting to use in a space?

The type(s) of lamp that you select depends on the effect that you want to deliver. Color temperature, or chromaticity, influences the mood of the space you are lighting. It is measured by “Kelvin Range” or “Temperature” and is sometimes called Color Rendering Index (“CRI”).

To understand color temperature, think of a flame from a butane torch. The red/orange outer flame is the color generated at a certain temperature. The next hottest layer is the white portion of the flame. The hottest section of the fame is blue.

The best bet is to discuss the project with us, and we can then guide you in the selection process.

  3. What is the influence of color temperature on mood?

The following are general accepted guidelines:

    • Kelvin Range 3000K – Friendly, Intimate, Personal
    • Kelvin Range 3500K – Friendly Inviting, Non-threatening
    • Kelvin Range 4100K – Neat Clean, Efficient
    • Kelvin Range 5000K+ – Bright, Alert, Exacting

Give us a call or send us an email if you have any questions about the appropriate lighting for your exhibit.

  4. How versatile is Track Lighting?

It is an extremely versatile lighting system.

The individual track heads can be positioned anywhere along the track, be swiveled or rotated while in a given position, and then aimed in any direction.

This provides excellent versatility to change your lighting scheme whenever the need arises.

  5. Can LEDs be used to provide general illumination?

Yes they can! As with any newer technology, please be prepared for a higher price point when using LED technology.

  6. What are some of the advantages of using LED bulbs compared to incandescent bulbs

LED light bulbs use less energy and throw off less heat than their incandescent counterparts.

LED light bulbs are also available in a variety of color temperatures ranging from warm white to neutral white to cool white.

We have more LED lights available than shown online. Give us a call or send us an email.

  7. Why do you only sell Velcro brand hook and loop tapes and products?

    The answer is quality!

In our experience the high quality adhesives and manufacturing process used by Velcro® stand up best to the ranges of temperature and humidity that shipments are exposed to over the road and in marshaling yards.

Using Velcro® brand products assures that the products will work as intended when unloaded from a trailer and installed in a trade show or retail venue.

  8. What are some general safety guidelines that should be kept in mind when choosing bulbs and power sources for lighting fixtures?

Using products that are either UL or ETL listed eliminates most every question. These symbols mean that the manufacturers produce products according to widely accepted UL safety standards.

Products that are UL or ETL approved are subject to quarterly unannounced inspections at the manufacturing sites to assure that safety matters and manufacturing processes are being adhered to.

We have a broad selection of replacement bulbs than those shown online. Give us a call or send us an email for more information.

Exhibit Weight

Exhibit Weight varies depending on the packaging and the shipping method. Variables include but are not limited to:
  • Dimensional Weight vs. Actual Weight: Dimensional weight is defined as crate or case size. On most air shipments, the dimensional weight exceeds the actual weight
  • Portable Cases vs. Wood Crates or Molded Tubs (where applicable): Exhibit designs that require one wood crate would require multiple portable cases. Selecting one vs. the other affects the total weight (dimensional or actual).
  • Freight Carrier: LTL carriers (Less than Truckload) quote freight based on space used. UPS, FedEx, and air freight carriers quote freight based on either the dimensional or the actual weight of the shipment.
  • Freight Service Level (number of days): Service levels range from Same Day Delivery to Two Week Delivery.
For more information about exhibit weights and freight options, please contact your local exhibit representative.

Electrical/Cord Management

Electrical, Cord, and Wire Management varies depending on the display and each exhibitor's requirements. When ordering your trade show display, consider the following electrical/wire management issues and discuss your options with an exhibit professional:
  • Inline vs. Island Displays
  • Lead Retrieval Devices
  • Computer and Monitor Cables
  • Demo Equipment
  • Overhead Lighting
  • Grommets and Grommet Placement in Counters
  • Overhead vs. Floor Power Supply
  • Flooring and Electrical Wiring
  • Options for Hiding Cords and Cables
  • Flat vs. Round Electrical Cords
  • Multi-Plug Outlets and Extension Cords
By reviewing your wiring options BEFORE you order your display, you'll save TIME and MONEY and ensure your exhibit exceeds your expectations and your installation is trouble-free.
